The essentials
  • Pastebot 3 costs $39 with a $12.99 upgrade for Pastebot 2 users who input their license key.
  • A subscription version at $2.99/month or $24.99/year is also in the works through the App Store.
  • New features include Smart Pastebins, filters, stacks and improved keyboard shortcuts.
  • The update comes after development paused for over a year due to a family health crisis.

A long-awaited update

Tapbots announced the release of Pastebot 3, nearly a decade after its previous version. Available for direct purchase at $39, the app promises new tools for clipboard management while retaining core features familiar to longtime users.

The company revealed a $12.99 upgrade discount for owners of Pastebot 2 who enter their existing license key. Tapbots also plans to offer the app via the App Store, though the subscription version of $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year is still awaiting Apple’s approval.

New tools for power users

Pastebot 3 introduces Smart Pastebins, which allow users to create rule-based storage for often-used content. Custom filters let you manipulate clipboard entries before pasting, and Stacks enable sequential pasting of multiple copied items.

The app also adds keyboard shortcuts, iCloud Sync, Shortcuts and CLI support, as well as universal clipboard integration. The Quick Paste Menu now pops up on Shift + Command + V, offering instant access to clippings from anywhere on the Mac.

A personal pause in development

According to Tapbots, the gap between Pastebot 2 and 3 was due to a family health crisis last year that halted work for over 12 months. During that time, one team member focused on family responsibilities while development continued on a new version.

Tapbots called the release of Pastebot 3 a ‘big day’ for the company. Users who buy the app directly get one year of updates, with subsequent years priced at $19. Subscription buyers will retain access to updates even if they cancel, limited to the version they had under their active purchase.
