  • Users reported error codes and missing step counts, despite data likely being stored locally.
  • Health Coach features, including Ask and Summaries, were also impacted.

On the morning of July 15, users of Google Health began encountering errors when trying to access their health data. The problem stemmed from a sync disruption that affected all users of the service.

According to a public incident report from Google, the sync functionality was completely down for about seven hours.

One user noted being able to record workouts using their Pixel Watch 4 but saw no data appear in the Google Health app. The device had even counted over 1,800 steps, but these figures did not update in the app during the outage.

Despite the disruption, Google assured users that data is likely stored locally on their devices. Once sync was restored, the data from the affected period should be pulled back into the app. However, this outcome is not guaranteed.

The Health Coach features, including Ask and Summaries, were also affected. These tools help users get actionable insights and summaries about their health habits.
