Fatima Kline walked out of UFC Oklahoma City with more than a win. After a commanding unanimous decision over Tabatha Ricci, the 26-year-old is demanding a step-up in competition. Kline isn't asking to wait for a chance at a title fight—she wants either former strawweight champion Weili Zhang or former title challenger Tatiana Suarez next.
Kline has only fought five times in the UFC, but four of those have been victories. Two came by finish, the latest an impressive display against Ricci that left her with nothing to prove in her current bracket. 'It seems like everybody thinks my greatest challenge would be Weili,' Kline said in an interview with Ariel Helwani. 'I think I can beat the best in the world.'
Though Zhang and Suarez have more experience, Kline doesn't see that as a barrier. She believes skill trumps seasoning. 'Sure, they might have more experience than me,' she said, 'but I don't think in any way they have more skill than me.'
Kline's path and possible opponents
Kline is coming off a four-fight win streak, with the only blemish on her record being a single loss in her 2024 UFC debut. Zhang, meanwhile, hasn't fought since November and is 26-4. Suarez has rebounded with a two-fight win streak after her lone loss came in a title bout against Zhang.
The road ahead
She's not waiting on the sidelines for an invitation. With a résumé that includes finishes and decisive wins, Kline expects that the next step comes now.
