Steven Asplund admits that losing fights feels like death to him. The Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight is preparing for his third UFC bout against Guilherme Pat at UFC Vegas 120 on Aug. Asplund is coming off a loss to Vitor Petrino in March and is determined to avoid a repeat of the experience.
I don’t show my face after a loss. This sh*t is like death,' Asplund said. The 28-year-old claims he has made significant changes to his training. He included setting up a home gym with equipment such as dumbbells, an Airdyne bike and a squat rack. 'I put a ton of dumbbells in my garage,' he said.
Asplund said he made an agreement with himself. He would never wonder if he had done enough in preparation again. 'I have done everything I can,' he said. The fight is a chance to right the ship for the 1-1 UFC fighter. He is eager to record a win. He wants to keep moving toward his goal of becoming a champion.
The 28-year-old is planning to end the fight quickly. Pat is also 1-1 in the UFC after a recent loss, and Asplund will be looking to outpace him and make his next fight his last regret.
