Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the original Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends will be shut down permanently on August 4, 2026. This decision ends more than five years of support for the OG Nintendo Switch, marking the conclusion of an era for players who have not upgraded to the newer Nintendo Switch 2 model.
Last season for Switch 1 users
The final update for the original Nintendo Switch, Season 29, was launched on January 30, 2026. As outlined by Respawn, Season 30 — titled 'Marked' — will not be playable on the first-generation Switch. Instead, it will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 and all other officially supported platforms. Until the servers are shut down, players on the older hardware can still enjoy the game and earn in-game rewards.
In an official statement, Respawn confirmed that all player progress, including purchased cosmetics and earned Apex Coins, will carry over to the Nintendo Switch 2. This ensures that players will not lose their in-game achievements or customizations. However, for the original Switch, in-game purchases will no longer be supported after August 4. Players who still have in-game currency are encouraged to use it before the deadline.
