Triathletes rally behind USA Triathlon Foundation at Roth
Fifteen athletes proudly showcased the USA Triathlon Foundation during the 2026 DATEV Challenge Roth on July 5. Their presence was accompanied by 28 individuals, including donors, Board of Trustees members, USA Triathlon staff, and friends and family of the organization, all making the journey to the legendary race in Roth, Germany. This gathering brought together supporters and contributors to the cause, highlighting a shared commitment to the Foundation's mission. Traveling to the event was more than just participating in the race; it was a demonstration of solidarity and purpose.
As the race unfolded, athletes wearing USA Triathlon Foundation gear caught the attention of the thousands of competitors. Spectators along the course responded with enthusiastic shouts of "USA! USA!", adding energy and support to the day’s efforts. These cheers from the crowd reflected a strong sense of national pride and admiration for the athletes who proudly represented the Foundation. The visibility of these athletes and their gear helped spread awareness about the Foundation's work and brought a tangible sense of community to the event.
Jason Rizzi, Chief Development Officer of the USA Triathlon Foundation, described the experience as one of deep meaning and motivation. He reflected that moments like these remind him of the foundation’s purpose—to support athletes at every stage, from beginners to top competitors. Seeing the athletes give their all on race day, determined to leave nothing behind, resonated strongly with the mission. Rizzi's words capture the emotional and inspirational aspect of the event, illustrating how the race served as more than a physical challenge but also a powerful embodiment of the Foundation's goals.
Roth race and charitable efforts combine
Challenge Roth remains one of the most respected races in the world of ultra-distance triathlon. Competitors complete a 3.8-kilometer swim in the Main-Danube Canal, followed by a 180-kilometer bike course that includes the challenging Solar Hill climb, and a final 26.2-mile run through the Roth district. Known for its iconic nature, the race consistently draws athletes and fans from across the globe. Roth’s long and storied history, beginning in 1984, has solidified its place as one of the sport’s premier endurance events.
Athletes can join the USA Triathlon Foundation team for the 2027 DATEV Challenge Roth, which will be held on July 4. Despite the event already selling out its general entry slots, the USA Triathlon Foundation has reserved ten exclusive race spots for interested participants. Those who secure their place will engage in special team events during race week, including group meals and training sessions in the days leading up to the race. The Foundation's exclusive bibs offer not only access to the event but also a chance to be part of a unique and meaningful experience that combines sport and charitable outreach.
