Discovery rights at play
The situation centers on discovery rights, a rule in MLS that grants certain clubs first refusal if a player wishes to join them. Galaxy had these rights for Casemiro but now states that a settlement has been reached with Inter Miami regarding the player. The league announced its investigation into the signing just after it was made public, citing the need to review the transfer process.
According to the league, a complete review is ongoing. No further comments will be made until it concludes. Inter Miami and Galaxy have reportedly resolved the matter involving discovery rights. The specific terms will only be revealed once the investigation is finalized. MLS allows up to five players to be listed under a club’s discovery rights at any time. Casemiro's personal reasoning
Casemiro later explained his choice to join Miami over Galaxy. He cited the city's appeal and the team’s project. He stated that his wife and children are frequently in Miami during their days off. This made the decision personal as well as professional. The player emphasized that when he spoke to Galaxy, he was clear about his preference to join Inter Miami.
