The essentials

Lazard Inc. is enhancing its technology advisory services by appointing Jessel Sheth, an experienced banking professional formerly at Barclays Plc. Sheth is scheduled to start in November as a managing director, with a focus on software and related industries, as indicated by those with knowledge of the matter.

Currently based in London and 47 years old, Sheth dedicated over a decade at Barclays, where he last served as the head of software and hardware banking for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Previously, he held positions at Perella Weinberg Partners and Credit Suisse.

Strengthening Software and AI Expertise

Sheth’s appointment aligns with Lazard’s effort to support clients navigating the evolving challenges of artificial intelligence. In his 25-year career, he has advised on significant European technology transactions, including mergers, initial public offerings, and private-capital deals.

This hire comes after Keiran Wilson, who left Lazard to take a co-head position in software investment banking for the UK and EMEA region at Citigroup Inc.

Growth-Driven Recruitment Plan

Bringing in Sheth is part of Lazard’s plan to attract high-level professionals in areas where the firm identifies expansion opportunities. CEO Peter Orszag's Lazard 2030 vision includes adding 10 to 15 managing directors annually to help double revenue by 2030. Lazard has also extended its global presence, opening offices in Denmark and Switzerland, and forming teams in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

This recruitment strategy is designed to strengthen Lazard’s market presence in emerging regions and key sectors, such as healthcare, energy, industrials, financial sponsors, and financial institutions.
