Google and NBCUniversal are finalizing a new deal that allows YouTube Premium subscribers in the US to access Peacock Premium, according to 9to5Google. The agreement, reached after nearly a year of discussions, deepens their existing partnership and introduces Peacock access to a broader audience. This isn’t the first time the two companies have worked together, but the expansion of their collaboration hints at new opportunities for streaming integration.

Under the current terms, subscribers will gain entry to Peacock Premium, the ad-supported tier. The more advanced and pricier Peacock Premium Plus plan, which is ad-free, remains out of reach for now. While this isn’t a full-service bundle, the arrangement suggests a potential for future upgrades that could benefit both sides. It also reinforces Peacock’s role as a versatile and competitive player in the streaming market.

In addition to the Peacock deal, Google and NBCUniversal are expanding their partnership to include the live streaming of sports events from NBC’s networks on the NBC Sports YouTube channel. That means fans can now watch major sports content without leaving the YouTube app, broadening the appeal of the partnership beyond just sitcoms and reality shows.

Not all Premium plans are equal

It’s important to note that only users with the full YouTube Premium plan will be able to take advantage of the Peacock bundle. Subscribers of the more affordable YouTube Premium Lite plan, which excludes music, will miss out. The decision to exclude the Lite version could be a strategic move to encourage users to upgrade, especially in light of recent price increases on the service.

More Peacock bundles out there

Peacock isn’t limited to the Google deal alone. Other bundles have emerged that include Peacock in their offerings. For example, Walmart+ members can choose between Paramount+ or Peacock as part of their subscription. Apple TV+ users can add Peacock for just $2 extra per month. Even grocery delivery service Instacart+ includes access to Peacock, proving that the service has found a way into many unexpected partnerships.

With Peacock appearing in so many bundles, it’s clear that the platform is becoming a go-to choice for casual viewers. Its content library—especially hits like The Office—continues to attract a large and diverse audience, making it an attractive option for companies looking to enhance their subscriber offerings.

The workshop read

The Google-NBCU deal shows streaming is becoming a game of volume and accessibility, not just exclusivity. For YouTube Premium, the bundle adds value—just not for everyone.
