Yale has improved its Access app for smart lock users with updates focused on convenience and clarity. The new version of the app includes functions such as battery tracking, allowing users to monitor how long their lock will last before needing a replacement. These enhancements are designed for Yale’s Assure Lock 2 series, a product line that emphasizes home security and remote control options.
User experience benefits from redesigned layout
The most recent update introduces a freshly designed app interface and a new battery insights tool. The insights page gives users a detailed view of their lock’s power consumption. It also estimates how long the battery will last under current usage patterns. The app also tracks who has accessed the lock and when, offering a detailed activity log that isn’t available in apps like Google Home. These tools give users deeper visibility into their home security setup.
Faster connectivity with 5GHz Wi-Fi
The Assure Lock 2 series now supports faster 5GHz Wi-Fi for better connection speeds with the Yale Access app. Although 5GHz is faster, it may not reach as far as the 2.4GHz band, especially in larger homes. Users must have the optional Wi-Fi module installed for the 5GHz feature to work. The lock automatically adjusts between Wi-Fi bands depending on connection quality, ensuring a stable experience.
More updates expected in the next year
Yale announced that more changes to the Access app are coming in 2026. The company has previously worked with Google and ADT to integrate its locks into smart home security and automation systems. The app’s latest improvements are likely part of a broader strategy to make the Yale Access app more independent and user-friendly. This gives users who want full control a stronger reason to use the app directly.
Yale is offering two models in the Assure Lock 2 line. The standard model is priced at $279 on Amazon, while the touch-enabled version, the Assure Lock 2 Touch, is available for $169. The updated Access app is already live and can be downloaded from the app store.
