From May 7 through 31, Walmart Canada, its employees, and shoppers helped raise $7.2 million to send directly to 13 children’s hospital foundations across the country. That money supports life-saving equipment, research, staff training, and programs designed to bring better care to families in their own communities.

A campaign with a long and local history

Walmart Canada has been working with the Children’s Miracle Network since 1994. Over 32 years, the campaign has raised more than $250 million for children’s hospitals nationwide. This year, the effort started with a $1 million donation from the company itself and continued with in-store and online support from customers.

Each year, the campaign helps bring in new resources that make care better for kids and their families. For example, a donation-funded training program helped one family understand and manage a rare condition when their baby was only three weeks old. Today, that child is a healthy teen who plays soccer and rides horses.

Associates and customers make the campaign come alive

Walmart Canada associates took an active role in promoting the campaign in stores and logistics centers. They helped spread the word and encourage donations at checkout counters. Sara Gugula, the company’s Chief People Officer, called the effort inspiring and said it shows how the company and its customers can come together to help their communities.

Adam Starkman, President and CEO of Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations, said the campaign’s success is driven by the fact that every donation matters. He added that the support helps children’s hospitals respond to new challenges and find better ways to care for kids across the country.

Throughout the campaign, families of patients visited stores across the country. They shared their own stories, showing how donations make a difference. These visits brought the campaign’s mission into focus and helped connect customers to the real impact of their generosity.

Walmart Canada’s broader role in Canadian communities

With more than 400 stores and over 100,000 employees, Walmart Canada is one of the country’s largest employers and top brands. It operates an online store at Walmart.ca that gets a million daily visits and is a major player in the retail space.

The company’s giving program has raised more than $940 million for charities since 1994. That includes its long-standing support for Children’s Miracle Network, which helps 170 hospitals in Canada and the U.S., including 13 in Canada. All donations go directly to local hospitals to support their highest needs.

Children’s Miracle Network is delivered in Canada by Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations, which works directly with local hospitals to raise funds and awareness. For more information about the campaign or how to get involved, visit walmartcanada.ca or childrensmiraclenetwork.ca.
