UTSA men’s golf coach Matt Wernecke has announced a packed 2026-27 schedule that stretches the team across multiple states and into Mexico. The Roadrunners will begin their fifth season under Wernecke with a tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from Sept. 6 to 8. The team will compete in the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate, hosted by Coastal Carolina at Grande Dunes Golf Club, as their first stop of the season.
The team will play in two East Coast events. The Rod Myers Invitational at Duke University Golf Club is set for Sept. 21-22 in Durham, North Carolina. In October, UTSA will travel to Florida for the West Bay Collegiate, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at West Bay Club in Estero, Florida. The fall season will conclude at the Qubein Cup in Greensboro, North Carolina, at Sedgefield Country Club. This marks the team's return to that event after a break.
The spring season opens in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, at the Compadres Collegiate. UTSA will then make back-to-back visits to Arizona in March. The first is at Tucson Country Club for the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate on March 15-16, followed by the Bell Bank 'Pay It Forward' Collegiate at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park on March 22-23. The team will host a home event for the second straight year, the Military City Collegiate presented by USAA, at TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course from Feb. 21-23.
The Roadrunners will then travel to Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee, for the Mason Rudolph Championship from April 2-4. They'll finish the regular season at The Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas, at Traditions Club on April 10-11.
The American Conference Championship will be held in Sarasota, Florida, from April 25-27 at Ritz-Carlton Members Club. The NCAA Regional sites are scheduled for May 17-19, with the NCAA Championship following at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California, from May 28 to June 2. This schedule offers the team a diverse range of competitive experiences as they aim to build on their success.
