T-Mobile has introduced a new set of discounted unlimited plans for students, with the cheapest offering now as low as $30 per month. The revised Essentials Saver plan, previously $50, becomes the carrier’s most affordable student line. The move comes after a recent spate of customer complaints over plan retirements and potential price increases.
The new Student Perks Savings, reported by The Mobile Report, include three plans: Experience Beyond, Experience More, and Essentials Saver. For a single line, the monthly prices are $80, $65, and $30 respectively. For two lines, the price drops are more pronounced: the two-line bundle for Experience Beyond, for example, is now $130 per month instead of the previous $170.
While the Essentials Saver plan is likely to be most appealing for budget-conscious students, there are some limitations. The student plans are restricted to two lines and require verification of student status. T-Mobile also notes that device purchase incentives are typically more favorable with its standard plans than with the discounted versions.
To access these student plans, users need to navigate through a series of filters on T-Mobile’s website. After scrolling down, customers must open a banner for discounts applicable to students, over-55s, military members, and first responders. Only then can they select the student-specific plan options from the top filter.
