Seymour's Surge and Session
During the second night of the 2026 USA Swimming Futures in Madison, Stuart Seymour significantly improved his time in the 100 backstroke, cutting 0.72 seconds from his best to finish at 54.65. This new time would have ranked 6th in the Pro Series. In the same session, Seymour also clocked a 49.87 in the 100 freestyle, marking a drop of 0.99 seconds from his personal best.
The 100 freestyle saw three swimmers under 50 seconds. Maximus Goettsch won the event in 49.64, improving by 0.42 seconds, while Cade Duncan came in second with a time of 49.73. In the backstroke, Goettsch placed second with a time of 55.41, just behind Seymour’s impressive new personal best.
In the 50 fly, Blake TeBeest claimed victory with a time of 23.98, edging out Seymour, who touched the wall at 24.11 for second. The 400 IM event was closely contested, with Eli Rolfsen winning in 4:27.43, just ahead of Noah Moeller’s 4:27.71. Rolfsen had previously touched as fast as 4:23.39 a year ago at the Madison Futures, highlighting his potential.
Molly Sweeney took the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.63, improving by 0.42 seconds from her previous best. She bested Izzy Enz, who finished second with a time of 56.72. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Tallulah Beg won the 400 IM in 4:53.70, just 1.92 seconds short of her best time of 4:55.62 from last year’s Futures in Ocala, Florida. Fellow 16-year-old Madi King placed second with a time of 4:56.62.
UCLA commit Olivia Sina improved her personal best by 0.39 seconds to win the 100 backstroke in 1:02.91, having previously touched at 1:03.30 last summer at Futures in Madison. Joslyn Bolton concluded the session with a 27.45 in the 50 fly. The results from the night showcase the intense competition across both genders and multiple strokes at the 2026 Futures meet.
