After more than a year of secrecy, Snap has scheduled a public demonstration of its AR glasses, known as Specs. The event will showcase AI integration, entertainment features, and shared augmented experiences, offering the clearest look yet at what the product can deliver.
Snap’s CEO, Evan Spiegel, will host the event in Los Angeles, promising attendees and viewers a hands-on look at the Specs. The company previously introduced the Specs at an industry expo, but this event is expected to target everyday consumers rather than developers.
The Specs are powered by dual Snapdragon chips, support hand and eye tracking, and feature transparent screens. Preorders are already open with a $200 refundable deposit, and shipments are expected to start in the fall of 2026. Whether the September event will also set a specific shipping date remains uncertain, but it could hint at a final timeline.
The glasses promise to do more than look futuristic. Snap says users will have access to AI help, virtual workspaces, and shared AR experiences. Yet until the September event, most of these claims remain unproven, leaving many curious about what the Specs can actually do in real-world conditions.
