Devastation in Radushne
Six members of a family were killed when a Russian ballistic missile struck their home in Radushne, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, on July 30. This tragedy happened during a broader Russian assault on Ukraine, where at least eight people died and more than 50 were hurt.
President Volodymyr Zelensky described the missile’s impact as so powerful that almost nothing of the house was left. He noted that only body fragments were found in the wreckage and that forensic experts would need to determine which family members the remains belonged to.
A Family in Mourning
Olena and Artem, the parents, along with their children Mark, Azarii Ilai, and Emilia, were confirmed dead by 6 p.m. Five other children — Zakharii, Dominika, Federika, Viorika, and 1 1/2-year-old Artem — remained unidentified at the time Zelensky made his statement.
A Telegram message from a local chat, posted on social media, showed the couple's son Matvii, living in Poland, asking if any family members had survived. A neighbor replied, stating the house had been reduced to its foundation and confirming all were killed.
The Voronov family's house was one of the targets in a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack. Lviv and Kyiv were also hit, with casualties and damage reported. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces with ballistic missile threats.
Zelensky said the country urgently needs more Patriot missiles to defend against such attacks. He called for global action to stop what he described as Russian aggression, emphasizing that these weapons are essential for saving lives.
In a recent strike on Kyiv, at least nine people died and 23 were injured after Russia launched 35 missiles overnight, including 27 ballistic missiles, as well as 185 attack drones. Zelenskyy said only one ballistic missile was intercepted, blaming a shortage of interceptors for Ukraine's Patriot air defense systems. He emphasized that every package of ballistic missile interceptors saves lives, while every night without them results in more casualties.
