One of the most sought-after guards in the 2027 class, 6-foot-5 shooting guard RJ Moore has added an official visit to Vanderbilt to his recruitment schedule.
Ranked No. 8 at his position and No. 40 overall in the Rivals Industry Ranking, Moore’s trip to Vandy marks a significant step in his recruitment. He’s also scheduled to visit Rutgers, keeping his options open in a competitive cycle.
In an earlier conversation with Rivals, Moore shared his admiration for Vanderbilt coach Mark Byington. 'I like how he coaches them hard.' He also praised the team’s pace and style, noting their freedom to shoot — a system that aligns well with his own strengths.
Moore’s game and self-awareness stand out
The rising senior described himself as a three-level scorer with a developing ability to get to the rim. 'Just the way he gets to his spots, and he is balanced, and how he shoots the ball,' Moore noted.
His basketball IQ is a key part of his appeal. His ability to play multiple roles makes him a versatile piece for any program.
What he wants from a college fit
Moore has clear priorities. 'I want to go to a school where I am going to play at, for sure,' he said. 'I want to play for a coach who trusts me and is going to put me in the best situation to succeed.' Rivals' national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw recently summed up Moore's strengths, saying, 'He has as pure of a stroke as you will see when he gets his feet set.' Shaw also praised Moore’s off-ball movement and consistency at the rim — signs of a growing game.
