At Samsung Unpacked, Qualcomm Technologies revealed that its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, along with the Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform and Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, will power the new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch Ultra2, and a new line of intelligent eyewear.
The new Galaxy lineup is designed to offer a unified AI experience across multiple devices. With Snapdragon at its core, the Galaxy ecosystem can deliver consistent, context-aware experiences through real-time adaptation to how users interact with their devices.
Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated, called this a "new age of AI," where personal devices become smarter and more responsive. "Snapdragon enables more natural, context-aware AI across the Galaxy ecosystem," he said, adding that Qualcomm and Samsung are working on redefining mobile experiences.
Won-joon Choi, Samsung’s COO of MX Business, emphasized the collaboration between the two companies. The platforms were optimized for each Galaxy form factor to ensure performance and efficiency that support Galaxy AI experiences. "That foundation is what allows users to move across smartphones, watches, and eyewear with one consistent, premium Galaxy experience," he said.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is built on the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, the world’s fastest mobile CPU. It's designed to deliver top-tier performance and responsiveness, with a focus on power efficiency. This platform will support advanced AI experiences, including improved camera features and enhanced connectivity, on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8.
End users can expect faster, more intelligent interactions across their Galaxy devices. The new platform is designed to adapt in real time to how people work, live, and create. This includes features like AI-enhanced camera performance and smoother, context-aware operations between devices.
