Yahoo Sports reports that the NWSL has officially ended its short-lived media rights partnership with Victory+, a streaming platform, and redirected its programming to the league’s own direct-to-consumer platform, NWSL+. This change, effective with Sunday’s matches, ensures that all games scheduled for Victory+ will now be available free of charge on NWSL+ as an ad-supported service. The league stated that the move will not disrupt any of its current broadcast agreements, including those with CBS Sports, ESPN, Prime Video, and ION, which are already in place.
This decision aligns with a broader pattern of leagues distancing themselves from Victory+. The platform has faced challenges in maintaining stable partnerships, as several teams and organizations have pulled out recently. For instance, the Texas Rangers notified Victory+ in March that they would terminate their agreement midway through the ongoing MLB season, and the Anaheim Ducks have also announced plans to end their media rights deal. According to Sports Business Journal, Victory+ has been grappling with financial difficulties, particularly in securing new funding since February. The platform has also failed to meet its minimum-guarantee payments to teams across multiple leagues, further undermining its reliability.
The NWSL signed with Victory+ in September 2025 as part of a mid-cycle expansion of the league’s broadcast rights agreement. The platform was expected to feature a weekly Sunday night game package and provide live alternate casts with notable participants such as former players Ali Riley and Kelly O’Hara, along with various streamers. Additionally, Victory+ was set to air dozens of regular-season matches through the 2027 season. However, the league has not given a detailed explanation for the abrupt termination, and Victory+ has not responded to any requests for comment. The split will not impact any of the NWSL’s other long-term broadcasting partnerships, ensuring that fans can continue to access matches as planned through existing platforms.
