Chandler Smith's commanding performance in Truck Series

In the Craftsman Truck Series’ FaithFest 250, Chandler Smith controlled the race from start to finish. Beginning the race from ninth place, Smith maneuvered into the lead late and took command of the final 105 laps. With an 8.479-second lead over teammate Layne Riggs, Smith captured his second consecutive Truck Series victory at North Wilkesboro, giving Front Row Motorsports a dominant 1-2 finish.

Shane van Gisbergen, starting from 19th, fought his way into third. Landen Lewis also had an impressive run, moving up from 16th to finish fifth. Carson Hocevar led 74 laps but was taken out of contention when a left-front tire failed, dropping him to 27th.

Logano ends Cup Series win drought at North Wilkesboro

In the Cup Series’ Window World 450, Joey Logano delivered a commanding performance. He led a race-high 323 laps and ended his 45-race winless streak in a thrilling final stretch, where Denny Hamlin gave chase but ultimately finished 0.859 seconds behind Logano. Riley Herbst played a key role in keeping Hamlin in the mix but Logano held firm under pressure.

An on-track incident between Alex Bowman and Tyler Reddick at the pit lane caused chaos, sending multiple drivers a lap down. Despite such disruptions, the race earned praise for its passing opportunities and multiple competitive lanes for drivers. Shane van Gisbergen capped his strong weekend with a career-best fifth-place finish on an oval and led 49 laps.

A return that felt fresh and exciting

With both races scoring well for entertainment and racing quality, North Wilkesboro proved it remains an important part of the NASCAR landscape. The Truck Series event earned a 7.5 out of 10, with the Cup race getting an 8 out of 10. The track’s short length and historical appeal combined with the new Next Gen Cup car format delivered a compelling return to the Cup schedule.

“I think this was one of the better next gen short track races with it being easier for them to pass and having multiple lanes that were fast”
