Oklahoma City made it clear they wouldn’t take back salary, meaning Miami would have had to offload existing contracts to accommodate Dort’s hefty deal. While a three-team trade involving Dallas and Atlanta was proposed as a potential solution, it was ultimately executed without the Heat’s involvement. Miami likely considered other options, including Andrew Wiggins or Davion Mitchell, but the evolving landscape and timing of the trade didn’t align. What Dort’s move means for Miami
With Dort now in Atlanta, Miami’s defensive options remain intact through existing players like Wiggins, who can perform similar duties.
