Canadians now have the opportunity to explore the vibrant and bold flavors of Indian cuisine from the comfort of their homes. This is thanks to a new initiative from Conagra Brands Canada. The company has unveiled Marigold. It is a new brand offering frozen meals and cooking sauces. These are inspired by professional chefs. Developed in partnership with seasoned Indian chefs and made in Canada, the products aim to capture the complex flavors of Indian cuisine. They also aim to capture the rich textures and aromatic elements. These define Indian cuisine. They create a truly authentic and memorable experience for home cooks.
Award-winning chef and author Chef Meherwan Irani has been instrumental in shaping the recipes of the Marigold line. He is known for his work with the Chai Pani Restaurant Group. He emphasized that Indian cuisine is built on the harmonious balance of spices. It also balances ingredients and textures. This delivers a distinctive and enjoyable meal. Irani and the Marigold team had in-depth conversations about the core qualities of each dish. They worked together to refine and test every recipe. This ensured it met the high standards of flavor and authenticity. Consumers expect this.
Chef's Commitment to Quality
Irani stressed the importance of attention to detail throughout the development process. Ingredients were carefully chosen. Seasonings were thoughtfully layered. This avoided any compromises in quality. Chef Irani said, "That commitment to flavor and craftsmanship is what makes Marigold meals and sauces so satisfying and craveable."
Caroline Nadeau, General Manager at Conagra Brands Canada, described the Marigold launch as a pivotal moment for the company. It represents one of its most substantial innovation investments in Canada and was created specifically for local consumers, with a focus on authenticity and quality. The project showcases the company’s ability to integrate deep local insights with advanced innovation to produce something truly distinctive.
Initial Frozen Meal Offerings
The initial product lineup from Marigold includes four halal-certified, single-serve frozen meals, each inspired by popular Indian dishes and served with fragrant basmati rice. One of the offerings is Butter Chicken, featuring tender chicken simmered in a creamy tomato-based curry made with real cream and butter, enriched with aromatic spices. Chicken Korma is another option, delivering a smooth curry with subtle coconut notes, while Tikka Masala offers a spiced tomato curry with a tangy finish.
The fourth entrée is Chana Masala, a vegan dish made with hearty chickpeas in a savory curry, enhanced with aromatic spices and a satisfying depth of flavor. These meals are designed for convenience without sacrificing taste or authenticity.
Vegetarian Cooking Sauces Launched
In addition to the frozen meals, Marigold has launched four vegetarian cooking sauces. They are all prepared in Canada. They are free from artificial colors. These sauces allow home cooks to easily recreate Indian favorites. Butter Chicken Sauce combines a velvety blend of cream and tomato. It has a balanced sweet and savory flavor. The Spicy Butter Chicken Sauce offers an extra kick. This is for those who enjoy more heat.
The other two sauces in the line are Tikka Masala Sauce, a richly spiced option with layers of warmth and a tangy finish, and Biryani Sauce, which features perfectly balanced aromatic spices for a traditional one-pot dish that captures the essence of this iconic Indian meal.
At present, Marigold’s single-serve frozen meals are being distributed to select retailers across Canada, with the company planning to expand availability nationwide by September. The vegetarian cooking sauces are set to begin appearing in stores in September 2026.
