Klagenfurt's Rugby-Frauenteam Seeks New Talent
The Rugby-Club Anexia Tigers in Klagenfurt is actively seeking new female players to join its team, offering free trial sessions for individuals aged 16 and older. Prospective athletes have the opportunity to experience rugby firsthand through these sessions, which provide a glimpse into a physically intense sport that thrives on strong team collaboration and mutual respect.
At a recent joint event with Sportstadträtin DI Constance Mochar, attention was drawn to the impressive qualities demonstrated by women in rugby, such as endurance, strength, and resilience. These traits not only define the sport but also mirror the personal characteristics of its athletes. One of the most celebrated achievements of the Klagenfurter Rugby-Frauenteam came in 2019 when the team secured the vice-champion title at the Damen-7s-Turnier. This success was the result of extensive training and unwavering dedication to the sport.
The team follows a structured training schedule throughout the year, with summer sessions held every Tuesday and Thursday at 18:30 on the Koschatplatz. During the winter months, from January to March, training takes place on the same days between 20 and 22 at the Kunstrasen in Magazingasse. Prospective players are encouraged to reach out to Denise Fischer-Lexer, a member of the team's leadership, for more information. Fischer-Lexer can be contacted at 0664 4215040, and additional details are also available on the team’s website at www.tigers-rugby.at.
Newcomers are welcome to join the team at any time, and no prior rugby experience is required. As Mochar enthusiastically emphasized: 'Women in rugby show incredible strength and resilience—qualities that shape their lives and carry over into the sport. I urge girls and women to give rugby a try—it will be worth it! Just pack your sportswear, sneakers, and a water bottle and get ready to start.' This message aims to inspire the local community to embrace rugby, highlighting the inclusive and rewarding nature of the sport.
