Kohmann's path to success
Kevin Kohmann’s path to becoming a top dressage rider was built on years of dedication and training. He began riding when he was 12 and took his first steps toward professional life at just 15. By 2006, he was already competing at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. It was there that he received an unexpected offer to move to the United States. Despite not speaking English at the time, he accepted the challenge and used it as a starting point to build his career abroad. He spent three years in the U.S. before going back to Germany to complete his master’s degree, becoming the youngest master in the country at that time.
Earning his master’s degree gave Kohmann a deep and broad understanding of the equestrian world. He studied everything from dressage techniques to horse anatomy, coaching methods, and farm operations. This well-rounded education helped him establish his own business in 2014 at Diamante Farms in Wellington, Florida. His skills and experience have earned him a top spot in the sport, with recent successes such as his win at the TerraNova Equestrian Center in Myakka City showing his continued dominance.
A life of horses and partnerships
In 2014, Kohmann married Devon Kane, the owner of Diamante Farms and an accomplished professional rider in her own right. The couple’s partnership extends beyond personal life into the equestrian world, with Kane managing the farm’s operations while Kohmann handles riding and training. Their shared knowledge and experience make them uniquely suited to understand the challenges and demands of the sport, something that few outsiders can grasp.
Kohmann often describes the equestrian industry as one for highly dedicated individuals. He says it’s for people who are truly passionate and even calls it a world for 'crazy people.' That kind of mindset has driven his journey from a young rider in Germany to a leader in the U.S. equestrian scene.
