Thomas Barksdale, a PGA of America-certified golf professional, has been named general manager at Hazeltine National Golf Club, a premier private golf course located in Chaska, Minnesota. The club is renowned for its rich history and prominence in championship golf, making it a key venue for elite events and a favorite destination for golf enthusiasts.
In his new role, Barksdale will oversee every major aspect of the club's operations. From managing member experiences and developing team members to maintaining the course, merchandising, and planning capital investments, he will lead across departments and strengthen both internal and external relationships to keep the club at the forefront of golf.
A golf legacy and future on the horizon
Hazeltine National has long been a central figure in golf history, hosting some of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments. It welcomed the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2019 and will do so again in 2026. In 2016, the club was the site of the Ryder Cup, and it will make history once more in 2029 by becoming the first U.S. club to host the event twice.

Barksdale's experience and credentials
Prior to joining Hazeltine National, Barksdale served as general manager at Prairie Dunes in Kansas for three years. His earlier career included leadership roles at Hidden Creek in New Jersey and as director of golf at Talisker Golf Club in Utah. These positions allowed him to build extensive experience in managing high-performing golf operations.
Barksdale graduated in 2010 from St. Mary’s College of California and has held a Class A PGA membership since 2011. He has received notable recognition in the PGA community, including being named Merchandiser of the Year at a private facility in Utah in 2021 and recognized as the Midwest Section PGA Professional Development (Flint Hills Chapter) in 2025.
