Some Pixel owners attempting to access Google Wallet ran into a major problem when their devices displayed a message saying, “Phone doesn’t meet security requirements.” This error unexpectedly made contactless payments impossible and blocked users from adding new cards. The confusion deepened when users realized that their devices were still passing Google’s Play Integrity checks, which are meant to confirm that a phone meets all required security standards.
The issue gained attention through reports on the Google Pixel support forum and Reddit’s community pages for Google Pixel and Google Wallet users. Many people described how their NFC payments were no longer processed. Some even noticed that third-party apps like Too Good To Go were now labeled as incompatible. While most reports came from Pixel 10 users, some Pixel 9 series owners also faced the same issue. Despite trying solutions like clearing Google Play Services data or performing full factory resets, users couldn’t fix the problem on their own.
A server-side fix is in play
Google has introduced a solution to resolve the problem, but the fix is being applied on the server side. The company has asked users to restart their phones and give up to 24 hours for the changes to work. Some users have shared that third-party apps often begin working again first, followed by the ability to use Google Wallet normally. Although Google hasn’t detailed exactly what caused the issue, a support representative hinted that the problem could be connected to device attestation checks happening on the backend systems.
If the problem continues after the 24-hour window, Google encourages users to send system logs by navigating to Settings > About phone > Send feedback about this device. These logs can help Google better understand lingering issues. This step might be especially useful for users still struggling with their devices or specific apps not working properly. The company remains focused on ensuring a full recovery for all affected users.
