Rings and maces with a legacy
For Season 15 of Diablo 4, Blizzard is reintroducing some of the most iconic gear pieces in the franchise’s history, including the revered Stone of Jordan and Ring of Royal Grandeur. These unique items, pulled from earlier titles like the original Diablo, Diablo 2, and Diablo 3, will now be fully integrated into the game as permanent additions. Ten such items will arrive, with five of them being usable by all classes, and five reserved for a specific selection of classes.
The return list features recognizable names like Leoric’s Crown and the Nemesis Bracers. Longtime Diablo 2 players will find the Stone of Jordan particularly nostalgic, while Diablo 3 fans might remember the Ring of Royal Grandeur or Squirt’s Necklace, which has now been reimagined as a chest armor piece. Each of these legendary Uniques will come with its own set of affixes, some of which have already been teased to show the power they bring into the game.
New mechanics, new choices
Season 15 introduces a new Rebirth feature that lets players keep using the same character across multiple seasons, avoiding the need to start from scratch each time. Another key addition is the Soul Splinters system, a new way to customize gear. Each Splinter provides a strong benefit but always comes with a drawback. For example, a Splinter might boost maximum health but reduce your main resource, or increase damage while entirely removing your chance to land critical strikes.
The open world will also see new content in the form of Overland activities, including challenge dungeons and demonic ambushes. These additions aim to make the world feel more dynamic and give players more opportunities to earn powerful gear and rewards while exploring.
BlizzCon holds more secrets
Blizzard is holding some details back until its upcoming BlizzCon event on September 12–13. While the public-test realm (PTR) build gives players a first look at some Season 15 features between August 4 and 11, it’s not the full picture. The company promises that more surprises are in store for the official launch. At the same time, work continues on refining the Mythic item system, with plans to make crafting them more predictable and less dependent on luck.
These changes come after Season 14, which many players found disappointing, especially regarding overhauled Mythic item mechanics. However, through a public test and several patches since its release, Blizzard has made efforts to address complaints. With Season 15, the company aims to build on these improvements and deliver a stronger, more satisfying experience, both in terms of content and player customization.
