Diablo 4 Season 15 lets you keep the same character across seasons

Diablo 4 players can now convert Eternal Realm characters to seasonal ones without starting from scratch — but only if they don’t mind parting with their gear.

The essentials
  • Blizzard introduces a Rebirth feature in Season 15 to convert non-seasonal characters into seasonal ones, resetting level but keeping playtime and cosmetics.
  • Season 15 will also bring items from older Diablo games, new Overland activities, and new Soul Splinter sockets with powerful but risky effects.

How to keep your favorite build without starting fresh

Until now, Diablo 4 forced players to start over with each new season, wiping out their progress in favor of the latest balance tweaks and rewards. Season 15 changes that with the Rebirth feature, letting you keep your character's name, look, and total playtime while resetting their level to one. It's an option for class loyalists and completionists who want to avoid the clutter of dozens of characters.

But there’s a cost to convenience: anything in your inventory — weapons, armor, charms — vanishes unless you stash it first. Blizzard warns players with a prompt, but you’ll still have to decide whether to commit before hitting confirm.

More than just a character fix

Beyond letting you keep your playtime, Season 15 will also reintroduce iconic items like the Stone of Jordan from Diablo 2 and the Ring of Royal Grandeur from Diablo 3. New world events, challenge dungeons, and ambush-style encounters round out the slate, plus the new Soul Splinters — sockets that bring big rewards but come with steep trade-offs.

Still working out the bugs

Blizzard is still fine-tuning key systems. Season 14 brought overhauled Mythic items, but received a lukewarm reception. Season 15 promises more stable, predictable crafting options. While the full details are under wraps, some features will be playable in the public-test realm starting August 4, and the main season is expected to launch in September following BlizzCon.
