Once a WBC lightweight champion, DeMarco now seeks to pass down his boxing expertise to a new generation of fighters. Located at 4620 Meadows Lane, Unit 120, the gym promises to become a cornerstone for families and young athletes in the area. DeMarco, celebrated for his fierce determination and sharp technique, envisions the gym as a place where discipline, personal development, and athletic excellence intersect.
A decorated past, a purposeful present
DeMarco’s career is a highlight reel for the sport. In October 2009, he claimed the WBC Interim Lightweight World Title by defeating José Alfaro in a thrilling 10th-round technical knockout at a Las Vegas arena. Two years later, in October 2011, he etched another mark in boxing history when he outlasted Jorge Linares and won via an 11th-round knockout in Los Angeles, becoming the undisputed WBC Lightweight World Champion.
His journey was defined by iconic bouts, including a grueling showdown with the formidable knockout artist Edwin Valero, and quick finishes against top opponents like John Molina Jr. and Miguel “Mickey” Román. Now, DeMarco turns his focus from the ring to coaching, ready to help others reach their potential.
WBC and community rally behind the vision
The World Boxing Council and its president, Mauricio Sulaimán, have publicly celebrated DeMarco’s new endeavor. Born in Sinaloa, DeMarco is also the cousin of world champion Humberto Soto, and now stands at the helm of his own legacy-building project. The gym will offer a dual purpose: a top-tier training space for aspiring athletes and a welcoming environment for families and community events.
