Chelsea has been handed a suspended two-window registration ban and a £10 million fine by the Football Association, following an appeal hearing into multiple rule breaches.
Initially, the Premier League club faced a suspended six-point deduction. However, an appeal board ruled in favor of replacing that penalty with the new registration ban, which will be suspended for the same period as the original points deduction, running until the end of June 2027.
The violations included 74 breaches of FA regulations related to agents, working with intermediaries, and third-party investments in players. The club admitted fault and the breaches were reported in 2022 by new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital during the takeover process from Roman Abramovich.
The £10 million fine, which cannot be appealed, will be fully directed toward grassroots football initiatives. The club has already reached previous settlements with the Premier League and UEFA regarding the same issue. Chelsea confirmed in a statement that it has been fully cooperative, voluntarily disclosing 'many thousands of documents' and engaging transparently with all regulatory bodies.
The Football Association has stated it will continue its investigation into any individual misconduct linked to the case. Chelsea, for its part, has declared the matter resolved, noting that all regulatory proceedings against the club are now concluded.
