This app aims to combine TV and movie tracking with enhanced social elements. It serves as a potential successor to TV Time, which was once one of the most widely used apps of its kind before being shut down. Following the recent discontinuation of TV Time, Pinto announced Bingers as a new platform that emphasizes a stronger social experience for users who are looking for a modern alternative to track their TV and movie watching.
Bingers brings a strong community focus
Bingers is designed with a strong social foundation. As detailed by TechCrunch, the app includes user profiles, comments, episode ratings, GIFs, polls, and character voting. These interactive elements were part of what made TV Time so beloved by its user base. Pinto, who spoke with TechCrunch, explained that TV Time had a lasting appeal even after the app was left without updates for years. He sees this as proof that the original app had a distinct advantage that other platforms lack. Pinto told TechCrunch that TV Time was "a diamond in the rough that kind of lost its way." He noted that the community remained vibrant and active despite years of neglect, which convinced him that the app held something unique that no other platform offered.
Bingers offers both tracking and social tools
The new app allows users to manage watchlists and view their watching histories. It also features a calendar that highlights upcoming episodes and premieres, including countdowns to air dates. Currently, Bingers is available for free on both iOS and Android, with no in-app purchases. It can be downloaded directly from the App Store. Existing TV Time users who backed up their data before the shutdown can now import their lists into Bingers, helping them continue where they left off. This makes the transition smoother for long-time users who want to preserve their tracking progress without starting over. New users, or those who didn’t export their data in time, can also start fresh with the app.
