From Texas to Kosovo: Becca’s leap
Just a few hours after dawn in Abilene, Becca Siedenburg saw a message pop up on her phone—KVF Ferizaj had extended a contract offer to her. This wasn’t only about a new job. It was a new doorway opening for her, one only a small number of ACU volleyball players have ever walked through. Her move to the Kosovo Superliga marks a rare but meaningful step for the program.
Siedenburg began her time at ACU in 2025 after transferring from Gardner-Webb. Her arrival brought fresh energy and focus to the team. She guided the Wildcats to 21 victories and a spot in the WAC semifinals. During her brief season, she recorded 233 assists and 92 digs, earning recognition as one of the most accomplished ACU players in recent memory.
A mentor’s blueprint
ACU head coach Ijeoma Moronu Alstrup had her own experience playing professionally in Europe and knew what it took. She shared that knowledge with Siedenburg, making sure she was aware of the opportunities that lay beyond Abilene. 'I wanted to show the girls that you have opportunities to play outside of Abilene,' Moronu Alstrup said, highlighting the importance of inspiring the current team.
For Siedenburg, success on the court wasn’t the only goal. She also pursued her MBA while playing, balancing academics and athletics. She has always believed in gratitude, saying it helps keep her grounded. 'Being able to move your body and play volleyball—because not everybody gets those opportunities,' she said, reminding others to cherish the chance to compete at the highest level.
New season, new chapter
As Siedenburg makes preparations to move to Kosovo, the ACU volleyball team is also entering a new season. The team kicked off training for the United Athletic Conference. From afar, Siedenburg has been watching the early stages and admits she feels a longing for the team and the familiar routines. The transition to a new country also brings a sense of missing the culture she was part of at ACU.
Now in the Kosovo Superliga, Siedenburg is following in the footsteps of only three other ACU players who have gone pro. With her background of 233 assists and a masters degree in hand, she steps into this new chapter with a solid foundation, ready to face a competitive league and a brand new place that awaits her.
