The essentials
  • Find Hub now lets users remove Bluetooth headphones and earbuds, which previously lingered in the app.
  • The removal option was not available for audio devices until a recent update.
  • The change was highlighted by a Redditor and appears to be widely rolled out.

Google’s Find Hub app, designed to help Android users locate devices or gear via Bluetooth or Google account links, has long retained every pair of Bluetooth headphones or earbuds you’ve used. Google has now added a feature allowing users to remove these audio devices directly from the app, giving them more control over their trackable items.

Previously, removing smartphones, smartwatches, or tablets was simple: a factory reset removed them. Trackers like the Moto Tag and Pebblebee also had a dedicated removal option. Bluetooth headphones and earbuds, however, stayed in the app with no way to delete them, leading to unnecessary clutter.

A recent silent update to the Android Find Hub app introduced a solution. Users can now delete Bluetooth audio devices, though the location of the option varies by device. On the Sony WH-1000XM6, a settings icon reveals a “Remove from Find Hub” button at the bottom. With the Sony LinkBuds, the option appears on the first screen.

The feature works across devices like Pixel Buds, Nothing earbuds, JBL speakers, and even the defunct OnePlus Buds. Despite varied layouts, the removal option is consistent across models. An eagle-eyed Redditor highlighted the update, and user comments suggest it has been widely rolled out.

This addresses a common pain point for Android users, offering a cleaner experience and more efficient tracking. For more on Find Hub, including updates on the Anker Eufy tracker and Moto Tag 2, follow 9to5Google. Follow Ben on Twitter/X, Threads, Bluesky, and Instagram for more coverage.

The other side

Some users may still struggle with the inconsistent menu locations across different headphone models, despite the new option.
