The Amarillo College volleyball team is getting ready for the 2026 season. It begins with the Blue and White Scrimmage on August 13. The team had an 18-11 record in the previous season. It recently held its media day to showcase returning players. New talent was also introduced to the local community. Players from the area are a common sight. Berkley Harper is a key player. She emphasized that staying near her family was a major reason for joining the team. She mentioned being able to remain in her own home. That included staying in her room and using her own bathroom. The transition to college life became more comfortable. Anna Escamilla is another player. She shared similar views. She highlighted the importance of proximity to home. Being surrounded by family was a crucial factor. She chose to play for the Badgers because of that.
Lyn Chavarria is another player. She noted that remaining close to home eased the transition to college athletics. She shared how not being homesick helped. As part of the team’s August preparations, the Badgers will begin with a Blue and White intrasquad scrimmage. The scrimmage will be held on August 13. An alumni scrimmage will follow the next day. The season will officially start with a matchup against West Texas A&M. That will happen on August 18. The team’s first home game will be at the FirstBank Southwest Center. Fans will get to see the Badgers in action. They will play against Lamar College there.
