Donald sets the tempo
Aneurin Donald made a powerful start to the innings, scoring a fiery 40 from just 19 balls for Trent Rockets. Hitting three sixes in quick succession, Donald gave the team a strong foundation as they opted to bat first in the match at Trent Bridge. Duckett's third half-century
Ben Duckett continued his stellar form in The Hundred, scoring his third half-century of the campaign in just 35 balls. His innings took him past Phil Salt to become the leading run-scorer in the men's competition. The left-hander reached the milestone with a composed and confident display, combining aggressive stroke play with the ability to pick holes in the SunRisers' bowling attack. Duckett played in tandem with Tim David, forming a 50-run partnership from just 35 balls. Amir and Gregory hold off SunRivers
SunRisers began their chase with determination, with Mitchell Marsh in fine form. Zak Crawley joined him at the other end and added 26 before being outsmarted by Mitchell Santner, who dismissed him with a well-executed delivery. The partnership gave SunRisers a solid start, but the momentum soon shifted as Trent Rockets' bowlers stepped up.
Harry Brook was next to face the challenge and he made an aggressive start, racing to 46 from just 14 balls. However, his stay at the crease came to an end when he was brilliantly caught by Duckett at extra cover off the bowling of Mohammad Amir. With SunRivers needing 25 runs from the final 10 balls, the pressure intensified. Matt Henry maintained his composure in the penultimate over, restricting the visitors to just nine runs. Lewis Gregory then stepped up in the final over, successfully defending 16 runs from five deliveries to seal a five-run victory for Trent Rockets.
Speaking to Sky Sports Cricket after the match, Duckett praised Aneurin Donald for his explosive start and shared his thoughts on his own form. He said: 'Aneurin played extremely well in the powerplay, took a lot of pressure off me and got us off to a great start. It was sweeping today. On another day, that doesn't happen, but thankfully today it did.'
