'We order from Europe, and that takes money,' he said, pointing out the financial and logistical challenges that hinder the sport's development in the region. However, he remains undeterred and focused on the future. His next goal is the 2027 African Games in Egypt. 'Inshallah, I’ll be there,' he said, confident in his ability to repeat his success. 'My goal is to win again.'
Meuwesen's compound breakthrough at 46
At 46, Jannie Meuwesen of Namibia made history at the 2026 African Archery Championships by winning the compound men’s title. His victory over reigning champion Adrien Charoux with a score of 133-128 was celebrated as a highlight of the tournament, particularly given the challenging wind conditions. 'There’s a lot of preparation still to be done,' he said. 'But I’m very excited for sure.'
