The young forward, who had nine goals and three assists in 28 Austrian Bundesliga games last season, had been linked with the Blues. Reports indicate he chose Turin over London because of greater promise of playing time.
Sky Italy reported that Chelsea's inability to guarantee regular minutes, and their proposal of a loan deal, influenced Alajbegovic's decision. Xabi Alonso, who had worked with Alajbegovic in Germany, wanted the Bosnian forward to join his new team at Stamford Bridge.
Alajbegovic's talent shone at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored a goal. His performance there only increased the interest from top clubs. But, with Chelsea already having Morgan Rogers and Jamie Gittens in left-wing roles, there was no clear path for him.
Sources suggest the move may ultimately be the best for all parties. Chelsea already have a deep pool of young talent. Adding another name to the list would not solve the issue of limited minutes and loan spells. Juventus could offer a more direct route for the 18-year-old to progress.
