Kyran Thompson has signed with Newcastle United, ending a brief stint at Arsenal and beginning a new journey in the north-east. The 16-year-old had already confirmed his exit from Arsenal on Monday, posting a simple message: 'Thank you for everything. @Arsenal'.
Thompson's time at Arsenal began with a £1.1m transfer from West Ham United, followed by a full scholarship at St. John's Senior School. The club fast-tracked his development with 28 appearances in the u18s this season, along with three in the u19s and one for the u21s.
Despite Arsenal's interest in extending Thompson's stay, the player sought clearer assurances about his role in the team. His father Karl shared similar hopes on social media. He said, 'Future is so bright, and we can't wait for him to get started and play in the position he's best at – RW.'
Choosing the North East
Tottenham had been heavily linked with Thompson, but he ultimately chose to join a Premier League rival. The decision came as a surprise to many given his time at Arsenal, but the teen reportedly felt more confident about playing in his preferred position at Newcastle.
